Great Advice When Buying a Baby High Chair

Kids grow so fast? I can't believe how fast babies grow! One minute they are lying on their backs gazing up at you, the next minute baby is rolling to the side and before you know it they are crawling around  manically all over the room. Very soon your baby will need weaning and be able to support his or her back enough for a high chair.

Always bear in mind when considering a high chair is that your child will be using it for up to three years before being too big to uise it anymore. If you plan more children, then the chair could also provide you service for a long time after that also. This highlights  the importance of choosing a good high chair to begin with.

So, what is available in the world of baby highchairs?

There many are different types of high chair for babies. Of course the high chair you purchase will be influence by the age of your little one, the environment in which you live, how much funds you have to invest and the design and shape of the highchair. The safely record of the high chair is vital to you making up your mind to purchase it and I advise you most strongly to only to purchase a high chair that has satisfied all safety checks required in the country you live in.

Highchairs that fold - These fold flat and are amazing space savers. They usually rest up by the side somewhere with the table at times fixed but frequently on a hinge for convenience. In my opinion these are most likely the most common of baby high chairs.

Highchairs that can be adjusted - These are better padded and the seat can be raised higher or lowered down for the ease of you and baby. These also can be folded normally, but can be more bulky then folding highchairs and so not as ideal for storage.

Three in one highchairs - This is a high chair that can be used in several situations.  On the whole, they start off as a highchair but can be made lower to become a low chair  with table. The only negative thing about them is that they tend to be more upright when your child is sitting in it and so possibly less comfortable.

Wooden High Chairs - These are solid fixed chairs that do not fold. Wooden highchairs are thought of as more traditional. They regularly are supplied with a removable table so you can get the little one in and out with no trouble. Obvious disadvantages are that you can not easily hide it away anywhere. There again, you will have a quality product that will still be useful for years to come.

Seats that Boost - These are not thought of as highchairs but are used for infants that are able to support their own backs and sit correctly at the table. They are usually moulded and strap straight onto the dinning or kitchen chair.

Table Attaching Seats - these chairs are intended to be attached directly to the table. This ensures baby is at the equal level as the rest of the family.

Things to consider when purchasing a baby highchair

Make sure your child will be happy in the high chair. The last thing you need is a grumpy baby at every meal time!

As I said eariler, make sure your highchair has passed all the safely checks required. A fixed five point harness is normally the safest to watch out for.

Find a chair you can keep easily clean. Have you ever seen the mess a baby can make at meal times? It’s horrific! You will certainly need to be able to easily clean your  chair. A removable tray can be a very useful attribute when cleaning. Keep an eye out for products that  have smooth edges and joins rather than crevices and folds where food and grime can collect. If the high chair is covered in textile ensure that it's unproblematic it is to keep clean.

Can your chair be folded and packed easily? This is more of a personal decision - how much room do you have and where does the family usually eat their meals?

Keep an eye out for for a highchair you truly like the look of. After all, you will looking at that piece of furniture for a a long time yet! Don’t buy based on practicality alone, you have to agree that the highchair is appealing also.

Consider whether the tray should be built in or detachable. Built in trays are solid and not as much to be troubled about but will prevent you pulling the little one nearer to the table than a removable tray. Possibly a removable tray will give you the finest of both worlds?

Does the highchair lie back? if so then you can use the chair sooner for your child before your child can support their back independently.

Think about whether you want an adjustable foot rest. Do you want baby’s feet to be dangling over the chair or rested on a footrest? Perhaps much more comfortable if baby's feet is resting on a footrest.

Hope you found this useful :)
